Saute and echappe

It is not necessary join one's legs in saute, said Ms Thng.

To work one's inner thigh muscles, the joining of legs is relevant only when one is planted on the floor, such as releve in 5th position, or coupe and this is for stability.

To work one's inner thigh muscles in saute, one's thighs should be turned out when in the air, and tail-bone tucked in. The tailbone's position affects how one's trajectory appears from the side view. It should be vertical, and not leaning forward / backward when jumping, as in the case when one's tailbone juts out.

  1. For small jumps (along the vertical plane), we should visualize our navel moving toward our spine, according to Jacqui Haas, in her book .

We should fire our abdominal muscles and not put tension on our neck and shoulders.
